The Orolan Story
Founded out of a passion for British craftsmanship, Orolan London was founded in 2022 to celebrate the skills of UK artisans.
Orolan pieces are relaxed and easy to style, designed with a sense of longevity and simplicity. Clean, minimal shapes and details let the materials speak for themselves and allows the craftsmanship to shine. Elevated with rich tones of colour and luxurious brass hardware, each piece is designed to stand out yet blend in seamlessly with your everyday style.
Showcasing the specialist techniques and pristine level of finishing, the bags are unlined meaning the stitching, gluing and cut edges are all visible.
Orolan bags are designed in London by founder, Lucy, and hand made in Somerset.
About the Founder
London based designer Lucy has spent the last eight years learning and perfecting her skills as a leather goods designer in the luxury fashion industry. Taking her inspiration from talented makers and surrounding herself with fellow creatives, Lucy now translates her experience into Orolan and creating collections that shine the light on the UK's most skilled makers. Drawn to simplicity and driven by her focus on celebrating UK artisans, her designs are clean and minimal to allow the materials and craftsmanship to take precedence.
Sustainability
The Somerset studio makes small production runs to avoid unnecessary waste and by making locally, we can reduce the environmental impact created by excess air and sea freight. Leftover materials are used to make small accessories and trims to reduce waste.
The highly skilled craftswoman's attention to detail and quality of manufacture means you will receive handbags that are made to last. Care for your leather by avoiding contact with direct exposure to sources of light and heat and make sure it is stored inside its dust bag and is not over-filled so it can conserve its original shape and quality.
The leather is sourced from a tannery just south of Verona, Italy. The tannery prides itself on its sustainable practices and is Gold Medal certified by Leather Working Group (LWG), an international organisation that evaluates the environmental compliance and performance of the leather industry. They also conform to the ISO 50001 Energy management system and UNIC Social Accountability requirements.
All packaging is recyclable and the dust bag is designed for you to keep and store your bag in. The dust bags are made in the UK, are 100% cotton and are printed using water based ink.
